Eric T. Fossel, Ph.D., Founder & CEO Strategic Science & Technologies Eric T. Fossel, CEO, founded Strategic Science & Technologies, Inc. (SSTI) in 1995. Prior to founding SSTI, he served as Professor of Radiology and Director of Research in Radiology at Beth Israel Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Fossel determined that the focus of SSTI would be transdermal delivery of the nitric oxide precursor, L-Arginine. The role of nitric oxide in controlling local blood flow is one of the most important medical discoveries of the 1990s. Three researchers shared the 1998 Nobel Prize for this discovery and nitric oxide was declared the molecule of the year that same year by the journal Science. Dr. Fossel, after three years of intense laboratory work, developed a system for the transdermal delivery of L-Arginine. He filed several patents on this system and its applications. Four US patents have been issued thus far. Numerous other applications are pending, both in the US and internationally. The transdermal technology has recently been extended beyond L-Arginine to pharmaceutical agents such as ibuprofen, naproxen, acyclovir and prednisone. It is this intellectual property that forms the basis of SSTI and its operating company Strategic Science & Technologies , LLC. (SST,LLC) which was founded in 2004. |
